A fire in the building of the Inter TV Channel in Kyiv is an example of a gross violation of the principle of freedom of speech in Ukraine. The information and press department of the Russian Foreign Ministry expressed such an opinion, commenting on the incident.
"We with dismay and deep concern react at the news about another fact of gross violation of the principle of freedom of expression and security of media and journalists in Ukraine. The arson in a building of Inter TV Channel in Kyiv and events taking place around him led to a number of victims. There is a further confirmation of the deplorable situation of human rights in the country, a clear demonstration of the artificially created atmosphere of hate and fear, the painful perception of any alternative points of view", reads the statement.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the power structures "let local nationalist groups exist" and some high-ranking officials even inspire these groups to illegal actions by their statements.
Also, the Russian Foreign Ministry urged to give legal and moral evaluation of what has happened in the office of the Inter TV channel.
