Russia believes that the creation of Ukrainian naval bases to protect the Black Sea region could actually affect its stability. Dmitry Peskov, the press secretary of the Russian president said so, as quoted by TASS news agency.

"Of course, taking into account all current circumstances, it could result in quite negative consequences for the atmosphere of stability in the Black Sea region, on the whole. Such danger potentially exists", Peskov said.

The Russian official added that in his speech, President Volodymyr Zelensky did not specify what kind of bases he meant.

Earlier, Ukraine's President Zelensky claimed Ukraine begins to construct bases to protect its interests in the Black Sea. The head of the state claimed that currently, Ukraine builds up an army capable of protecting the country on the ground, on water, in the air, and in cyberspace.
