Marie Fredriksson, the vocalist of prominent Swedish rock band Roxette, died at the age of 61. Radio Sweden reported this on Tuesday, December 10.
The singer succumbed to a continuous disease.
"Fredrisksson's manager said the cause of death was an earlier illness. Fredriksson was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2002 and was given a slim chance of surviving at the time. She later explored her health problems in a solo English-language album released in 2004", reads the tweet on the official page of Radio Sweden.
In 2010, Fredriksson rejoined Roxette and performed in the world tours with them.
Roxette were originally created by Marie Fredriksson and Per Gessle in 1986. The 1981's song called The Look brought the band fame all over the globe. Roxette gave 557 performances over their career. Four songs ended up in the U.S. Billboard charts. The band sold 75 million albums worldwide.
