The Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAP) of Ukraine announced the partial closure of the criminal proceedings in the so-called Rotterdam+ case. The SAP press service wrote it on its Facebook page.

At the same time, the body assures that the criminal proceedings are not closed in full and the pre-trial investigation would continue in the future. The case is closed only in relation to the suspects.

The SAP clarified that this happened due to the time limit for the pre-trial investigation, determined by the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the lack of other sources of evidence. Accordingly, it is not yet possible to obtain enough evidence to prove the guilt of the suspects.

"Taking into account the foregoing, a resolution was drawn up, according to which, on August 27, 2020, the criminal proceedings were closed in part against the suspects due to the failure to establish sufficient evidence to prove the person's guilt in court and the exhaustion of the possibility of obtaining them, as well as due to the lack of corpus delicti,” reads the message.

As we reported before, The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court chose the preventive measure for ex-Deputy of the Energy Market Head of the National Commission of the State Regulation on Energy and Public Services. The official was held in custody in absentia.
