Legendary rock ’n' roll musician Chuck Berry passed away in the United States aged 90 years, according to BNO News referring to the St. Charles County Police Department.
Department received an emergency call from musician’s house in Missouri. Medics have arrived at the scene and found unresponsive man.
They did not manage to revive him. Chuck Berry died at 1:36 p.m. local time (8:36 p.m. Kyiv time) according to police.
Chuck Berry was born on October 18, 1926 in St. Louis in a large family. He gave his first concert in 1941 while he was studying in school. Three years after, he was arrested for armed robbery after robbing three shops in Kansas City, Missouri, and then stealing a car at gunpoint with some friends. Chuck Berry continued to do music there and even formed a singing quartet. He was released from the reformatory on his 21st birthday in 1947.
Then Berry got married and had a daughter. In the early 1950s he started to play in St. Louis clubs for extra cash. Eventually he grafted country & western guitar licks onto a rhythm & blues chassis in his very first single.
