The road accident in Odesa, where Toyota driver mowed down two people, resulted in the death of both victims. The baby girl deceased instantly, and the 20-year-old woman that carried her in her arms passed away on Monday, the press service of the National Police regional branch reports.
The woman passed away at a hospital, two days after the accident which took place on June 2. The court currently decided what kind of restriction measure to choose for the driver, who appeared to be the 68-year-old woman.
According to Dumskaya news agency, the driver ran over the victims, as the woman moved across the crosswalk. She carried the baby of her brother's fiance; the tragedy happened in front of the mother, who ended up in the asylum due to what she had endured.
Odesa residents shut down the highway, where the accident occurred, demanding to set the traffic lights - instead of the ones that function improperly. According to the locals, that section of the roadway is dangerous, and the current traffic lights work only in the yellow light mode. 'The drivers ignore the crosswalk. They just run on yellow. We should wait 10-15 minutes to cross the road. Deadly accidents take place every six months here,' they said.
