In the city of Almaty, during the riots, protesters stormed the administration building (akimat). A fire broke out in the buildings of the city hall and the city prosecutor's office, KazTAG reports.

It is reported that a strong fire broke out in the Almaty akimat. The main entrance is on fire.

According to local media, the administration heard the sounds of gunfire, more like a shootout - the sounds of machine gun fire and single shots.

It is also known that the number of beaten National Guard soldiers at the Almaty akimat is already about 20 people.

In addition, the agency writes that as a result of the use of firearms, one serviceman was injured.

As it was reported, in the beginning of 2022 protests erupted in Kazakhstan after the increase in the price of liquefied gas. Demonstrators announced an indefinite action. Demands to reduce the price of gas have grown into calls for the resignation of the president and government. The Internet has been shut down in the country, law enforcement agencies seized military equipment, make arrests.

President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced a  state of emergency in Mangistau region and the city of Almaty.On January 5, the head of state promised to consider and take into account the demands of the protesters. They are known to demand lower gas prices and the resignation of the government.

It later became known that the Cabinet of Kazakhstan has filed a resignation letter, and President Kasym-Jomart Tokayev accepted it.
