Restoration of passenger air traffic will depend on the beginning of the vaccination campaign among passengers. Eurocontrol developed three scenarios of this process. The press office of Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise (UkrSATSE) reported that on Wednesday.
The optimistic scenario foresees that the vaccine against Covid-19 would be introduced in the near future, and in summer 2021, it may become available for passengers. Under this particular scenario, aviation traffic could get back to the level observed in 2019 in four years.
The realistic scenario foresees that the vaccine for passengers will be released for public use by summer 2022. In this case, the air traffic will get back to the pre-quarantine level in 2026.
The pessimistic scenario foresees that if the vaccine proves ineffective, the restoration of air traffic to the level of 2019 could take an entire decade.
All passengers will have to accept the new rules of traveling, and parties to the civil aviation market will need to reconsider their business strategies - in the view of the current economic situation.
"Restoration of the branch will depend on macroeconomic factors, with corrections in the area of aviation branch's specific peculiarities. That especially concerns Ukraine", said Andriy Yarmak, the director of Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services Enterprise.
