Kyivites will be able to get respiratory masks as soon as there are enough of them; the masks will be distributed for free or, perhaps, sold at the rate of prime cost. Mykola Povoroznyk, the Deputy Head of Kyiv city state administration said so in an evening show at 112 Ukraine TV channel.
"I'll tell you this right now: as soon as we get an opportunity, we'll set the production process, and we're working on it quite hard now... we'll be distributing these masks. As soon as our stocks are full enough for at least two-three weeks, we will start passing them. Or we will sell them via pharmacy networks - at least at the rate of prime cost (...)", he said.
Povoroznyk added that at first, the masks will be passed to medics, drivers, police workers, i.e. those who contact the potentially infected people more frequently than others.
The official added that there are some 200 lung ventilators in the city's hospitals. "There are enough of them for the intensive care units to work in the peak period [of the Chinese coronavirus spread in Ukraine]", Povoroznyk concluded.
