Ukrainian State Air Traffic Services stated that the renewal of the flights to Europe might be postponed for an indefinite term. It is tied with the introduction of strict restrictive measures due to the third wave of the coronavirus as services head Andriy Yarmak said.
“Concerning the renewal of traffic to Europe, it is quite difficult to provide exact prediction on the liberalization of the rules of border crossing taking into the account the introduction of strict restrictive measures due to the third wave of coronavirus. The previous terms on simplification of the rules for border crossing from the beginning of June might be postponed for an indefinite term,” he said.
Yarmak noted that the seasonal increase of the number of flights in the air space is expected under the responsibility of Ukraine in the time of summer navigation when the tourist season begins.
It is reported that in March 2021, Ukrainian air companies performed 4,603 flights (5.8% more than in March 2020); foreign air companies performed 7,557 flights (less for 15.8%).
Earlier, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated that the borders of 104 countries are open to Ukrainians. He noted that Iceland, Montenegro, Haiti, Guyana, Bangladesh, and Gabon opened their borders to Ukrainians.
