850 thousand tourists have visited Kyiv in 2018. This is the highest record for the last four years. Anton Taranenko, Head of the Tourism Office of the Kyiv City State Administration claimed this at the briefing on Monday, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
‘We are expecting two million foreign tourists this year. This year, we have almost made it to the level of 2013. This summer has become a record for the past four years. For the six months of 2018, Kyiv has been visited by 850 thousand foreign tourists, when 660 thousand in 2013 for the same period,’ Taranenko claimed.
According to him, the agency anticipates the incensement of the tourist flow by 25 percent at the end of this year comparing to 2017.
He stressed that more than 50 percent of the tourists in 2013-2014 were from Russia and Post-Soviet Union countries. Belarus, Israel, the USA, Germany, and Turkey came in the top five in the following year.
‘Belarus took the first place, and this is only because a lot of Belarusians travel to Kyiv, stay for a couple of days and then go the shores of the Black Sea, so it is a short-term tourism. The tourist flow from Israel increases. Owing to the return of cruises in Kyiv, the representatives of the tourist cluster of the USA and Germany are traveling to our country. Turkey is always in the top five. The flow from Italy, France, and Great Britain are also increasing,’ the Head of the Tourism Office of the Kyiv City State Administration stressed.
Head of the Profile Department of the KSCA stressed that for Kiev, event tourism is a priority.
According to the published information, the tourist fee in Kiev in 2018 will be about $1.1m.
