Law enforcement officers seized a large consignment of cocaine which arrived in a container with bananas from Ecuador in Pivdennyi Sea Port (Odesa region). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
"Record 56.4 kg of cocaine from Ecuador were detained in Odesa region," the statement said.
Cocaine, packaged in 47 briquettes, was hidden in ventilation hatches. Each briquette had its own brand marking in the form of letters and numbers, which indicates its affiliation to a particular drug syndicate. The estimated cost of the seized "elite" drug weighing 56.4 kg can reach over 7.2 million dollars on the black market.

A criminal case has been initiated under Article 305 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (“Smuggling of narcotics, psychotropic substances, their analogues or precursors”).
As we reported earlier, the State Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) stated that it had liquidated 11 drug laboratories and seized 334 kilograms of drugs, 27 kilograms of psychotropic drugs, and 188 kilograms of precursors over the previous six months.
