In Kryvyi Rih, the rare atmospheric phenomenon appeared in the sky due to the frost. It is called a halo, as Nata Li reported on Facebook.

“Kryvyi Rih! Today, on January 20, 2021, when it is 17 degrees below zero outside, we became the witnesses of the rare atmospheric phenomenon such as halo,” she wrote.

A woman explained that sometimes, in freezing weather, a halo might appear. It is created by ice crystals weighed in the atmosphere close to the earth's surface.

The type of halo depends on the halo and the location of crystals. Reflected and refracted light by ice crystals is degraded in the spectrum that makes halo similar to a rainbow. The most bright and full color is sun dog and circumzenithal arc; the less bright are tangents of the small and big halo.

As we reported, in Odesa, the sea was "boiling" due to the difference between the temperature of water and air. In the south of Ukraine, the air temperature dropped up to 14 degrees below zero but it is enough for the Black Sea to create unusual natural phenomena. The sea has started to fume.
