All-Ukrainian forum dedicated to International Day of Roma Holocaust will take place in Kyiv on August 2-3. The press office of Kyiv City State Administration reports with the reference to the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.
'In terms of the event on August 2, a mourning rally will be held for International Day of Roma Holocaust in Babyn Yar, National Historical Memorial Preserve,' reads the message.
Also, a commemoration gathering will be held in Mariinsky park in the evening at 6:00 p.m.
Ketane, an International public organization of gypsies and a number of local Roma organizations-members of the Romani Council are the organizers of the event.
According to the Ukranian Parliament's decree from October 8, 2014, the International Day of Roma Holocaust is marked at the Governmental level.
Reportedly, a group of teenagers attacked the camp of gypsies at the outskirt of Lviv on June 24. As a result of the attack, a 24-year-old Roma deceased, three more people were injured.
The weapons used for the assault were taken from the crime scene. Later it became known that among detained teenagers ten of them are pupils from three Lviv schools. Generally, the Police has identified 14 suspects.
The Security Service of Ukraine does not exclude that Russia may be involved in the assault.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the assault and expressed outrage. The representative of Romani organization claimed that they are not going to revenge for what happened.
As of now, it is known that the court arrested eight suspects in the attack for two months without bail. The organizer of the attack is stated of suspicion of murder.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine supports the establishment of units for Roma issues in the regional state administrations in the regions with a big gypsy community.
