In Ukraine, the level of education fell by 8% during the year of quarantine. But this indicator is not critical. Minister of Education and Science Serhiy Shkarlet announced this in an interview with RBC-Ukraine.

"Overall, we estimate a drop in quality (of education) about 8%, but it's not really critical. We understood that the quality of education would fall anyway," Shkarlet said.

According to Shkarlet, the State Service for Education Quality monitors the quality and availability of residual knowledge after studying a particular part of the educational program at least once every two months.

The quality and level of distance education has improved by 10-15% compared to the December monitoring, and now stands at 70-75%, the Minister said.

Head of the Ministry also noted that distance education cannot replace full-fledged full-time education.

"The year of the pandemic is a completely unusual year for the whole world, not only for Ukraine. The position of the whole world - and the Ministry of Education of Ukraine is no exception - is that distance education will never replace full-fledged face-to-face communication," Shkarlet said.
