Petro Poroshenko, the President of Ukraine thinks that the block of the building of the NewsOne TV channel is unacceptable but he also claimed that the attempt to estimate the Revolution of Dignity by Evgen Muraev that provoked the incident is also unacceptable. Poroshenko reported this at Facebook.
‘Any pressure on the mass media and especially the block of them are unacceptable. Also, the attempts to justify the actions of country-aggressor against Ukraine, play into the hands of the Russian propaganda, including the issue of the estimation of the Revolution of Dignity are unacceptable too’, he noted.
Poroshenko thinks that such actions can be the response to the inaction of the bodies that are responsible for this.
‘The National Council on TV and Radio broadcasting should more efficiently execute the regulation of the media scene’, he emphasized.
As it was reported earlier Donbas conflict veterans and men in military uniform gathered around the building of the NewsOne TV and started the "blockade" of the channel.
The formal reason for the blockade was the phrase "Maydan was a coup d'état", said by the owner, Ukrainian MP Murayev on the air of the channel a few days ago. Murayev informed us that he considers what is happening under the canal as 'pressure on independent media'.
Arsen Avakov, the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine addressed the activists blocking the TV channel's premises, saying that law enforcement officers will take appropriate measures against them. He also demanded to stop any provocations around the work of the TV channel.
Later it turned out that the police did not detect any violation of the actions of the activists.
