Protests near Verkhovna Rada: Interior Minister deactivates security system

Arsen Avakov is dissatisfied with the waste of public funds

Arsen Avakov, Interior Minister, ordered to stop guarding the protests near the Verkhovna Rada with the forces of the Interior Ministry. Avakov wrote that in his blog on Twitter.

“We are not going to waste public funds and guard this garbage near the Verkhovna Rada anymore. I ordered to deactivate the ministry security guard from the perimeter,” the Minister wrote.

As it was reported earlier allies of Mikheil Saakashvili, former Odesa region governor and the leader of the Movement of New Forces political party, are rallying near Ukrainian parliament. A number of other political parties are rallying too.

The organizers demanded to deprive Ukrainian lawmakers of parliamentary immunity, to change election law creating open party lists, and to create anti-corruption court.

Later Saakashvili settled in tent among protesters near Verkhovna Rada.

There were minor clashes occurred, several policemen injured.
