Another nine people were killed during the protests in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Radio Liberty reports it.
According to the agency, most of the dead are young people. Police deny that law enforcement officers are to blame for the deaths of protesters.
"Some of them died from gunshot wounds, but this firing wasn't conducted by the police. The police used tear gas to scare away the excited crowd," the message noted.
Thus, the total number of victims during the protests increased to 23 people throughout India.
