Violent fighting occurred in Odesa near the city council, the participants of the rally tried to get inside the building, 112 Ukraine TV channel.
The session of the city council is suspended due to the incident.
The protesters lighted false fires on Dumska square at 11 a.m., chanting “Trukhanov, get out!” (Trukhanov is a mayor of Odessa, - ed.).
Later police used tear gas and detained several activists.
Several people are reported injured.
“Now the situation remains tense. There were clashes between law enforcement officers and the protesters. They took to the vandal actions, some of them had pyrotechnical devices with them. Some activists are aggressive, use fires. Law enforcers have the situation under their control and take measures to maintain order,” Rusla Forostyak, the advisor to the Head of the National Police in Odesa region, reported that on air of 112 Ukraine TV channel.
The city council resumed its session at 11:00 a.m.
As we reported earlier, September 15 at 23:34, the wooden building of the camp "Victoria" in Odesa has caught fire. Local rescue service received a message about a fire at the children's camp. At the time of the fire, 42 children were in the building. Three girls died.
The State Emergency Service reported that because of the wind, the fire spread rapidly over flammable wooden structures and the neighboring buildings were also threatened. Rescuers say that the tragedy was also followed by lack of the water in fire reservoir (it was filled by a third) and low pressure in the existing fire hydrant.
Children were evacuated by the camp administration before the arrival of the fire fighters and rescuers, but three girls from the room number 11 of Building No. 5 were forgotten.
The State Emergency Service said that as of 01:54, fire was liquidated from the area of 560 square meters.
Eyewitnesses said that the children jumped out of the windows to escape the fire. At least one child was injured as a result of jumping out of the window, two more were poisoned by combustion products.
