In Kaminske, Zaporizhya region, about 500 farmers block traffic on the Kharkiv-Simferopol highway from 10:00, protesting the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of draft law 2178-10, which, according to them, has not been agreed with relevant agricultural organizations, with the agrarian community, and with local self-government. At least a thousand cars and trucks have already accumulated on the highway, and buses are in line. Since the beginning of active discussions in the Verkhovna Rada on the issue of opening the land market, this is the sixth consecutive protest in this area.
“Our volunteers go with leaflets, explain to bus and minibus passengers why traffic is stopped. They distribute informational materials to adults and candies to children. We also try to skip transport with regular passengers as much as possible. We take breaks for 5-10 minutes so that they can pass” - Anatoly Tykhovod, head of the public organization "Agrarian Union of Zaporizhya region", said to 112.ua.
According to him, the protesters are outraged by the fact that agricultural associations expressing the opinion of farmers, people who work on Ukrainian soil, do not allow local government to participate in public discussions of the land bill 2178-10 neither in the framework of the Verkhovna Rada committee nor the Cabinet of Ministers.
"We are against the shameful bill 2178-10 in the form in which they want to pass it. No one knows what it will bring to Ukraine, we can only guess what the permission to buy 210 thousand hectares in one hand will turn out to be. In its current form, foreigners are allowed to buy land that already owned agricultural companies we see that the document is adopted not in the interests of the Ukrainian village, not in the interests of small and medium agricultural businesses, but in the interests of transnational corporations, large agricultural latifundia, in the interests of foreign states and their citizens. They will destroy the villages, as large agricultural holdings destroyed them. We do not exclude that the authorities act today to please those foreign companies that are interested in destroying the Ukrainian agricultural business as a serious competitor in order to earn money on Ukrainian land," - Anatoly Tykhovod said to 112.ua.
As we reported earlier, Activists blocked Kyiv’s main street Khreshchatyk protesting against the land sale.
It is reported that people were standing near the Verkhovna Rada and then moved to the center of Khreshchatyk Street and blocked the main street of the capital.
