National Police spokeswoman Natalya Kalynovska revealed some of the details about high-profile detention of prosecutor in the Ukrainian capital, as he was about to get a bribe.
"He was apprehended on June 4, as he was getting a hand on a 100,000-dollar bribe from a bank worker. He demanded this money in exchange for action aimed at closing criminal case against a bank, and further non-registration of any possible violations by any law enforcement agency", the spokesperson told the press.
The court supported prosecution's appeal about taking the man to the custody. The prosecution asked to impose a bail in the amount of almost USD 37,000; however, court appointed the amount of roughly USD 22,500. The official put this bail and walked free.
"The prosecutor's office did not agree on this decree and turned [to the court] with the appeal. A court session was supposed to take place today (July 3, - 112 International), but the Presiding Judge is on a leave, and the session was postponed for July 22", Kalynovska said.
