Prominent Ukrainian journalist dies of cancer

Oles Tereshchenko, a prominent Ukrainian journalist and a TV anchor died at the age of 43 yesterday, on March 12. Zurab Alasania, Director General of the Public Broadcasting Company of Ukraine (UA: PBC) reported that on his Facebook page.

Oles Tereshchenko was fighting cancer since 2017.

“I took my oncology diagnosis as a sore trial, not as a death sentence. This is a hard challenge. I accept it. I tend to fight the disease. I hope I can do this,” the journalist noted.

Archbishop of Obukhov Iona (Cherepanov) reported that the funeral service will take place at the Trinity Monastery of St. Jonas at 1 p.m. on March 14.

Oles Tereshchenko created “The Television News Service” (TSN) at the 1+1 TV channel back in 1997. He also was a news anchor at the TSN, later – the Head of International Department. Oles worked at the UA: PBC recent years.
