As we reported earlier, the journalists of 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and ZiK appealed to the president of Europe Council Charles Michel with the request for a meeting amid illicit closure of three opposition TV channels in Ukraine.

The proper letter was sent by media employees to Spokesperson of Michel, Barend Leyts.

“We, journalists of the 112 Ukraine, NewsOne and Zik independent TV stations, would like to kindly request a pleasure of having a meeting with H.E. President Charles Michel during his forthcoming visit to Ukraine.

In grave breach of basic principles of rule of law, the Ukrainian authorities have banned the broadcasting of these three leading TV stations – the decision that has got increasingly sound condemnation on the part of respected international human rights watchdogs. We will be honoured and pleased to meet President Michel in order to convey our concerns over the blatant attack on the freedom of press in Ukraine,” the letter says.
