Ukraine may resume its public transport starting from May 22

Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers is considering the possibility of resuming public transport during the next stage of lockdown easing. This is stated on the website of the President of Ukraine.

"If you have already decided to resume public transport, you should allow local authorities to do it in the areas where they see the possibility of adherence to safety regulations. People go to work, and they should be given the opportunity to get there. The main thing is to not forget about safety," President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky stated.

According to the Healthcare Minister Maksym Stepanov, eight regions of Ukraine are not ready to resume public transport because their situation does not meet the criteria for doing so.

It is also worth noting that mandatory means of transportation will include personal protective equipment for passengers and staff. Temperature screening of all passengers will be carried out, the number of seats will be limited.

As we reported earlier, Prime Minister of Ukraine Denys Shmygal stated that the lockdown would be extended after May 22 but it would be adaptive.

In other words, the restrictive measures will vary in different regions and cities.
