Creation of investigating commission on missing persons in Donbas discussed at President’s Office

The Office of the President of Ukraine hosted a meeting of the Working Group on Missing Persons in Donbas, both military and civilian hostages (prisoners). This was reported by the press service of the President’s Office.

The participants of the meeting discussed, in particular, the issue of establishing a permanent investigating commission on search of missing persons under Ukraine’s Cabinet of Ministers, the formation of search groups based on it, as well as the military and civilian registers of missing persons.

According to Oksana Kolyada, Minister of Veterans Affairs, Temporarily Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons, providing the Office with the function of finding missing persons is one of the top priorities.

It was also stated that the Ministry had initiated amendments to the legislation in order to delegate the relevant powers to the department and create search groups. Work will be accelerated with the help of the Office of the President of Ukraine.

As we reported earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has given the task of transferring the activity of the operational staff on prevention of the coronavirus spread throughout the territory of Ukraine, which operates under the Ministry of Health, to the level of the Cabinet of Ministers, creating a relevant working group.
