President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky has appointed Rear Admiral Oleksiy Neizhapa as Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The corresponding decree No. 217/2020 was signed by the Head of State on June 11. The press service of the head of the state reports this.

Oleksiy Neizhapa was born in 1975 in the city of Sevastopol (Crimea). In 1997, he graduated from the Sevastopol Naval Institute, in 2008 - the Sevastopol Naval Institute (operational-tactical level) and the National University of Defense of Ukraine in 2015.

In 2015-2019 he was Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces for Combat Training - Head of the Combat Training Directorate of the Command of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Since April 2020, Oleksiy Neizhapa served as Deputy Commander of the Naval Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took part in the anti-terrorist operation in Donetsk and Lugansk regions.

He served as an officer from Lieutenant to Captain First Rank on the ships of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (in positions from the commander of the battery to the commander of the frigate of the brigade of surface ships). He received military ranks twice, in the posts of ship commander and brigade commander.

He repeatedly led the Ukrainian-American Sea Breeze exercises from the Ukrainian side.
