About a thousand people gathered in Prague for the First Ukrainian festival; the event was held at Holesovice exhibition plaza in the Czech capital.

Among those present were mainly members of the local Ukrainian Diaspora. ‘There’s a feeling you’re not alone in this country. We tell people a lot about Ukraine, explaining things and persuading them. There are a lot of us here, and such gatherings make us even closer to each other,’ said Mariya Skyba, the leader of the Ukrainian community in the Czech Republic.

Yevhen Perebyinis, Ambassador of Ukraine in the Czech Republic, thanked his compatriots for humanitarian assistance for the Ukrainian army in Donbas. He urged the citizens to continue to support Ukraine and gather on rallies to stand for this country in the face of the Russian aggression.

Currently, Ukrainians are the largest foreign community in the Czech Republic; there are about 110,000 Ukrainian citizens in this country, and approximately half of them live in Prague.
