Postponed Olympic Games in Tokyo to take place in 2021 despite Covid-19 pandemic

Prime Minister of Japan Yoshihide Suga and President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach agreed that the postponed 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo will take place at the designated time as Deutsche Welle reported.

The Olympic Games are planned for summer 2021. They should take place in the capital of Japan Tokyo.

“Together we would be able to make out of these Olympic Games and Olympic flame the light at the end of the tunnel,” the IOC President said.

The IOC is going to provide the athletes and visitors of the Olympic Games with the vaccine against coronavirus.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, then PM of Japan Shinzo Abe and President of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach agreed to postpone 2020 summer Olympic Games for a year. However, the name of the games will remain the same ‘Tokyo 2020’.

As we reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky once again claimed that Ukraine's ambitious sport goal is to host Olympic Games.
