Portugal opens its borders for Ukrainians

The government of Portugal made a decision to admit the entry to the country for Ukrainian tourists as Foreign Minister of Dmytro Kuleba reported on Twitter.

“Portugal opens on July 26 for all types of traveling for Ukrainians due to the recommendation of the Council of the European Union,” the Foreign Minister reported.

The entrance of Ukrainians to mainland Portugal by any transport is allowed temporarily – from July 26 until August 8.

For entrance to the country, it is necessary to provide: the certificate with a negative result of PCR testing for Covid-19 held not more than 72 hours before the entrance; the certificate with the result of the express test for Covid-19 antibodies held not more than 48 hours before the entrance.

Besides, it is allowed to enter Portugal with any goal for travelers, including the citizens of Ukraine who have actual European (issued in any EU country) Covid-certificate (in paper or digital form).

Ukrainians can travel to Madeira and Azores with any goal, including visa-free travels.

Meanwhile, the citizens of Ukraine, who do not have the European certificate, can come to mainland Portugal by air or sea transport if:

  • they have a valid residence permit in Portugal (Residência) and the certificate with a negative result of PCR testing for Covid-19 held not more than 72 hours before the entrance or the certificate with the result of the express test for Covid-19 antibodies held not more than 48 hours before the entrance;
  • presence of documents that confirm the status of the “member of the family of the EU citizen and certificate with a negative result of PCR testing for Covid-19 held not more than 72 hours before the entrance or the certificate with the result of the express test for Covid-19 antibodies held not more than 48 hours before the entrance.

As we reported, the French government updated the entry conditions for Ukrainians, now France is opened for tourists. To cross the French border, Ukrainians aged 12 and over must have a negative PCR test done no earlier than 72 hours before entry or an antibody test done no earlier than 24 hours, or a certificate of completion of the full course of vaccination.
