Poroshenko awards Mother Heroine title to 616 Ukrainian women

Petro Poroshenko conferred the title "Mother Heroine" to 616 women. This was reported by the press service of the Ukrainian president.

"On the occasion of Mother's Day, which is celebrated in Ukraine today, President Petro Poroshenko conferred the honorary title Mother Heroine 616 Ukrainian women," the report said.

It is noted that most of the awards got mothers from the Rivne region - 137. The second place regarding the number of titles has the Volyn region, there are 76 such mothers. The third is Zakarpattia, where 49 women received the award.

"Mother Heroine" is a state award, by which the president annually highlights women who gave birth and raised five or more children up to eight years old. Also, honorary titles are awarded to mothers who raise adopted children.

Women are awarded for significant personal contribution to the upbringing of children in the family, the creation of favorable conditions for their education, the development of their creative abilities, the formation of high spiritual and moral qualities.
Earlier,  the annual Mothers' Procession, dedicated to the Mother's Day celebration began in Kyiv. According to Ukrinform, about 300 people took part in it, most of whom were mothers of fallen soldiers.

During the procession, everyone could sign the postcard "Warm words to the hero's mother."

The procession began on Mykhailivska Square, then the participants went to the St. Volodymyr's Cathedral.
