Ukraine’s President Petro Poroshenko appointed Vasyl Lemak and Serhiy Golovaty the judges at the Constitutional Court

The orders are published on the official presidential administration website - #46/2018 and #45/2018.

Serhiy Holovaty was a Justice Minister in 1995 – 1997 and 2005-2006, a member of the parliament of the 2nd – 4th convocations (in Yuliya Tymoshenko faction, Yushchenko’s Our Ukraine bloc and the Party of Regions.

Vasyl Lemak is a former head of department of theory and history of state and law in the law faculty at the  Uzhgorod National University since 2004.

Earlier, former judge of the European Court of Human Rights from Ukraine Stanislav Shevchuk was elected a new chairman of the Constitutional Court at a special plenary session. 

It should be noted that Shevchuk was a judge of the European Court of Human Rights ad hoc from Ukraine during 2009 and since 2012.

The election of the head of the Constitutional Court was several times disrupted, in particular, because of the non-nomination of candidates.
