Pope Francis in the Easter appeal wished peace to Ukraine. This is reported by Radio Vatican, referring to the Easter message to the "City and the World", delivered at noon, April 1, from the St. Peter's Basilica.

"The fruits of peace are requested for Ukraine to strengthen the steps for the benefit of consent and facilitate the implementation of humanitarian initiatives, which the population needs," he said.

Also the Pope asked for peace for Syria.

"Today we are asking for the fruits of peace for the whole world, beginning with the beloved and bloodied Syria, which population is exhausted by a war an end for that can not be seen," Francis said.

He wished that the light of Christ would enlighten the conscience of political and military leaders so as to put an end to the war and honor humanitarian law without delay.

"We are asking for the fruits of reconciliation for the holy land, which is also bruised in these days by conflicts that do not spare the unarmed, for Yemen and the entire Middle East, so that dialogue and mutual respect outweigh the divisions and violence," added the head of the Catholic Church.

In addition, in his sermon, he turned to those parts of the African continent that suffer from hunger, local conflicts and terrorism, calling for not forgetting the victims of the war in Southern Sudan, especially children.
