On the Christmas Eve, Pope Francis called for releasing all abducted people, including priests, monks, and laypeople, as he said in a traditional sermon in Vatikan, as Radio Liberty reports.

He also prayed for "the gift of peace for the whole world, especially for populations suffering the most because of conflicts underway".

A big part of Pope’s address focused on the refugees. Many migrants, he said, were being forced to flee from leaders who "see no problem in shedding innocent blood".

“So many other footsteps are hidden in the footsteps of Joseph and Mary. We see the tracks of entire families forced to set out in our own day. We see the tracks of millions of persons who do not choose to go away, but driven from their land, leave behind their dear ones,” Francis said.
