As previously reported, more than 250 settlements were affected by floods in Ukraine, as well as 7,500 houses were flooded, roads and bridges were destroyed. Ivano-Frankivsk region suffered the most losses.
The European Union has activated the Civil Protection Mechanism to meet the needs of Ukraine in overcoming the effects of floods. This was reported by the press service of the European Commission.
The EU said that Sweden has already responded to Ukraine’s request, and is ready to provide 1.2 km of flood barriers, 250 hoses, and technical experts. In addition to Swedish assistance, the European Commission will provide mapping services in the affected areas through the EU's Copernicus satellite system.
It is also noted that the 24-hour emergency response coordination center of the European Union is in constant contact with the Ukrainian authorities to monitor the situation.
