Pope Francis congratulated the Christians of the Eastern rite on Christmas. This is reported by Radio Vatican.
"Dear brothers and sisters, some Eastern churches, Catholic and Orthodox, these days celebrate the Nativity of the Lord. I offer them my sincere congratulations: let these joyful celebrations become the source of renewed spiritual strength and the communion of all Christians who recognize Him as Lord and Savior", he said.
We recall that all Ukrainian Orthodox churches, the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church, the majority of Ukrainian evangelical Christians, as well as the Jerusalem, Russian, Serbian, Georgian Orthodox churches celebrate Christmas on the night of January 6 to 7. This day is an official state holiday in Ukraine.
Let's note, earlier law enforcers reported that mass events on Christmas night passed without significant violations in Ukraine.
