Polluted water in Cambodia: 10 people die, 120 are hospitalized

Doctors suppose that pesticides got into the water which people use for drinking

10 people died and 120 are in the hospitals after consuming polluted water in Cambodia, as AP reports referring to local doctors.

According to the information, people with symptoms including breathing problems, dizziness, vomiting and chest pains began getting sick on Thursday.

“The deputy provincial police chief, Chhim Sokhim, suspected rainwater from nearby farms that use insecticide had come into contact with a stream where villagers collect water used for drinking and cooking,” the message says.

For now, this version is being checked: health authorities collected water and food samples from the villages and wait for the analysis results.

It should be mentioned that poisoning cases are not uncommon in Cambodia as most of the security regulations in agricultural activities are violated.
