In Minsk, political prisoner Stepan Latypov cut his throat during a court hearing. The Belarusian Telegram channel Nexta reported this.

The man got up on a bench in the cage so that the guards would not reach him, and stuck a pen in his throat.

The message states that before that Stepan Latypov said: "GUBOP (Main Directorate for Combating Organized Crime) promised that if I do not admit guilt, there will be criminal cases against relatives and neighbors."

Latypov's father said that Stepan had been kept in a remand prison with people with mental disabilities since April 11.

An ambulance took Latypov unconscious from the courtroom. According to the publication, he will be placed in an induced coma.

As a reminder, Stepan Latypov the arborist and the director of the Belarbo company which is engaged in cutting down trees in hard-to-reach places, crowning, treatment. He was detained as a suspect in a criminal case under Art. 293 of the Criminal code (mass riots). On September 19, several state TV channels aired a story alleging that Stepan Latypov was suspected of organizing an illegal supply channel for dangerous chemicals and intended to use toxic substances against police officers.

Currently, Stepan Latypov is accused under three articles of the Criminal Code of Belarus - organizing group actions that grossly violate public order (parts 1, 2 of Article 342), police resistance (part 2 of Article 363) and fraud committed on a particularly large scale ( Part 4 of Article 209).
