Policeman at post near Poroshenko's residence committed suicide on February 23

A police officer of the special purpose regiment committed suicide being on duty in the village of Kozyn near the residence of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. This was stated by the speaker of the National Police in Kyiv region, Mykola Zhukovych. The incident occurred on February 23.

"There is a fact of this (the fact of suicide of a member of the special police regiment at the post near Kozyn village, near the Poroshenko residence - Ed.) Now an investigation is being carried out. A criminal proceeding is opened, "said a police spokesman in Kyiv region.

Answering the question, whether this policeman guarded the president's residence, Zhukovych replied that "it happened near the residence, but on the post."

It is also reported that, according to preliminary information, the police officer committed suicide from the service weapon.

As Strana website specifies, the deceased is the senior sergeant Serhiy Galasyuk. On the fact of his death, criminal proceedings on the article of the Criminal Code on premeditated murder were opened.

Note that the urban settlement of Kozyn is located 30 km from Kyiv and is known in many respects for the location of the residence in which the president lives.
