Police special forces eliminated the Poltava terrorist Roman Skrypnyk, whom law enforcement officers had been tracking down for a week. Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Anton Gerashchenko announced this today on Facebook.
"On August 1, at about 02.00, on the outskirts of the village of Opishnya, Zinkivsky district, during the search for Skripnyk, the head of the Zenkivsky police department, the police captain, entered one of the uninhabited houses and found the criminal," Gerashchenko said.
According to him, Skrypnyk, took a policeman hostage, carrying a hand grenade.
However, policemen had a service weapon with him. In order to detain the attacker, a special police operation "Thunder" was launched.
As a result, officer of the KORD police special forces eliminated the terrorist with an accurate shot.
The hostage managed to jump away from the site of the grenade explosion. He remained alive and well.
Gerashchenko noted that Roman Skrypnik had the opportunity to appear to the police and remain alive. However, he said, "he chose his own path".
