“A suspected explosive device has been found at an empty section in Christchurch. Police found the package, along with ammunition, on Newcastle St, in the suburb of Phillipstown,” the message reads.
Police, bomb-disposal experts, rescuers and doctors are working at the site.
“New Zealand Defence Force Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit made the package safe,” Canterbury district commander Superintendent John Price, stated.
Earlier, a shooting occurred in Christchurch and Linwood mosques. Police defused explosive devices found in the cars after the shooting.
Later, law enforcers detained four participants of the attack – three men and one woman. One of the criminals was recording the shooting.
49 people died, 47 got injured in the terrorist attack.
