Police have opened criminal proceedings regarding the tanker “Delfi” accident, which occurred near Odesa. This was reported by the press service of the National Police of the region.
It is noted that the event is qualified under the article "violation of rules related to safety of traffic or operation of railway, water or air transport " (Part 1 of Article 276 of the Criminal Code). The sanction of the article provides punishment in the form of correctional labor for a term up to two years, or restraint of liberty for a term up to three years.
The investigation is ongoing.
As we reported earlier, three members of the tanker’s "Delfi" crew were evacuated after the ship run aground. It had broken the moorings due to a severe storm. The head of the Odesa Regional State Administration Maksym Kutsyi reported about it on the air of 112 Ukraine TV Channel.
According to Kutsyi, all three people were taken away by ambulance cars. The captain of the ship was in serious condition because he had been in the flooded captain's cabin for two hours.
According to the Dumskaya newspaper, initially, two crew members - a senior mechanic and a sailor were pulled ashore. Later rescuers took out the captain of the sinking ship.
