Law enforcement officers detained a drug dealer with opium for $83.4 thousand in the Transcarpathian region. The press service of the local National Police reported.

"Employees of the Office of Combating Drug Crime in the Transcarpathian region together with investigative department, as well as employees of the special police and special forces "KORD," under the procedural leadership of the regional prosecutor’s office, detained a man who organized a drug distribution channel between Transcarpathia and Dnipropetrovsk region," the message said.

It is noted that the 57-year-old resident of the village of Novovorontsivka is the organizer of the distribution network of concentrated opium in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The man is one of the members of an interregional criminal group that supplied concentrated opium to Ukraine.

It is also reported that a resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region had previously been convicted of a number of crimes.

The cost of the seized narcotic drug is more than $83.4 thousand.

The investigators opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal production, manufacture, purchase, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogs).

As we reported, Transcarpathian border guards detained a batch of smuggled heroin, which offenders tried to export to European countries. The total weight of the product has reached 374 kg.
