Police detain man attacked judge of Svyatoshin District Court of Kyiv

Kyiv Police detained the man who has recently attacked Serhii Diachuk, judge of the Svyatoshin District Court of Kyiv. The press office of the police reports. 

According to the message, the assailant was a security guard in the parking situated nearby the victim's place.

According to the judge, he noted that a fire was set up near the parking. When he went outdoor, he saw that the security guard was burning the garbage, the judge reprimanded the man. In reply, the man inadequately reacted at it: he took the stick and started hitting the judge's hands and head.  

According to the police, the witnesses of the conflict call the victim an ambulance, meanwhile, the assailant escaped from the scene.  

The law enforcement officers promptly identified the suspected and detained him.

'He is a Kievan, born in 1964. Currently, the perpetrator provides explanations to the investigators of Svyatoshin Police Department,' the police added. 

The information on the incident was inserted to the Unified register of pre-trial investigations. Criminal proceedings have been initiated under Part 4 of Art. 296 (hooliganism) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to 7 years of imprisonment. 

Earlier, the press office of the Council of Judges of Ukraine claimed that the judge of the Svyatoshin District Court of Kyiv was attacked nearby his place.

It was assumed that the attack may be connected with the professional activity of the judge. 

Reportedly, attacked Serhii Diachuk, judge of the Svyatoshin District Court of Kyiv holds hearings on the murder of people on the Maidan on February 18-20, 2014. The case, which already includes 157 victims and more than 500 witnesses. Five ex-employees of the Kyiv regiment "Berkut" are accused of the massacre of protesters, as well as of committing a terrorist act.
