An Air India Express plane flew off the runway during landing, and then broke into two parts. At least 15 people died, and another 112 were injured, as the Indian news agency NDTV reports.
It is noted that among the dead there are two pilots of Flight IX-1344. Four more people are still locked in the ship's cabin. In total there were 174 passengers on board, including 10 children, two pilots and four crew members.
It is known that the plane tried to land at the airport several times, but due to weather conditions, the pilot was unable to land the liner. Another attempt was unsuccessful: the plane flew over the runway and crashed to the ground from a height of 35 pounds, after which it broke in two.
In addition, it is reported that the flight was part of the Vande Bharat program, which provides for the evacuation of Indian citizens from abroad due to the coronavirus pandemic.
