Honorary Patriarch Filaret is not happy with the current status of Kyiv Metrpopoly, claiming it is not enough; instead, he assumes that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church has prospects to restore the status of Kyiv Patriarchate. The churchman said that while talking to journalists on May 15.
'To the rest of the world, we're Kyiv Metropoly, recognized by the Ecumenical Patriarchate. But we're not fine with it. We have prospects of creation and restoration of Kyiv Patriarchate. It's the future. And Ecumenical Patriarсh does not deny that in the future, the Ukrainian Church will be recognized in the status of the Patriarchate. That's what Archbishop Daniil, the representative of the Ecumenical Patriarch, said on the record', Filaret stated.
At the same time, he insisted it is crucial that members of the Ukrainian Church should stand united to see to it that the Patriarchate's status is restored.
'We need to unite, to create the united Orthodox Church. This is why our task is to unite all Orthodox branches in one church. But in order to join those who still has not yet joined us, we need to be united as well', the Patriarch said.
