Parliament supports increasing fines for ignoring seat belts while driving

The Ukrainian Parliament approved the bill No.8492, which foresees increasing fines for ignoring seat belts while driving. The current size of the fine is 2.20 U.S. dollars; according to the bill, the sum is to be raised to 37.95 U.S. dollars. 

240 MPs supported the draft bill, with 226 votes necessary to pass.

The document foresees increasing the responsibility for ignoring the safety belts (when using passenger cars) and bike helmets (when driving motorbikes). 

The respective bill was registered in the Parliament in June 2018 by the group of MPs led by Anton Herashchenko, the member of the People's Front party.
