The owner of Tokyo Star hotel, where nine people died in the result of the fire, will be remanded in the custody. The court extended the restrictive measure toward Vadym Chorny and provided the possibility of the bail as Radio Liberty reported.
The hotel’s owner will be released from detention after bailment in the sum of over $2 million.
“To establish the amount of the bail as the alternative restrictive measure sufficient for provision of the procedural duties provided by Code of Criminal Procedure of Ukraine by suspect Chorny in the sum of over $2 million according to the civil proceedings from the affected people on recovery of material and moral damage inflicted in the result of the criminal offence,” the message said.
On the night of August 17, 2019, a large-scale fire broke out at the Odesa Hotel Tokyo Star, as a result of which nine people died and ten were injured. This was reported by the press office of the State Emergency Service.
The owner of the hotel said he would be fully responsible for the fire in case his guilt was proved by the law enforcers. Later owner of the hotel Vadym Chorny was detained.
Later the court detained executive senior of Tokyo Star hotel Iryna Parovyk until October 18. The bail is not provided. The suspected claimed during the proceeding that fire safety was not included in her obligations. The executive had only provide order and cleanliness in the hotel.
