Over 83,000 Ukrainians got Russian citizenship in 2018

83,081 citizens of Ukraine got the Russian citizenship in 2018 as Interfax-Ukraine reported citing migration data of Russia’s Interior Ministry.

In comparison, 85,119 Ukraine got Russian citizenship in 2017.

Besides, 64,861 Ukrainians received the residence permit in Russia from January until December 2018. At the moment, 170,638 citizens of Ukraine live at the territory of Russia on the residence permit.

Moreover, 77,075 permissions for temporary residence were issued to the Ukrainians in 2018. At the moment, 160,706 Ukrainians live in Russia with such permissions.

Russia’s Interior Ministry reports that 524,7 Ukrainians visited Russian with private issues; 460,600 Ukrainians came for work and 29,100 Ukrainians studied in Russia. 44,200 Ukrainian came to the state as the tourists.

In 2017, 503,300 Ukrainians came to Russia for work, 485,100 came with private issues, 42,900 came as tourists and 28,100 came to study.

As we reported the State Duma, the lower chamber of the Russian Parliament has adopted the law, according to which the Russian president is authorized to “define the categories of the foreign citizens in humanitarian purposes, which have the right for the acquisition of citizenship in the simplified order”. 

Besides, 39,582 citizens of Ukraine were granted the Russian citizenship in 2018. Since January 2018 until June 2018, 39,582 citizens of Ukraine were granted Russian citizenship (if accepted, restored or recognized).
