Over 65% of Ukrainians die from cardiovascular diseases, - official

Minister of Health Maksym Stepanov said that cardiovascular diseases were the cause of almost 67% of deaths in Ukraine. This was announced by the official during a briefing broadcasted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.

"Once again, I want to emphasize that mortality from cardiovascular diseases, including acute stroke, is very high in Ukraine. Almost 67% of all deaths from various diseases fall on cardiovascular disease," said Stepanov.

He also assumed that the Ministry of Health would provide care to about 135,000 patients with such diseases in 2021.

As we reported earlier, in Ukraine, more than 50% of children under one year of age are not vaccinated.

The lowest rates of vaccination coverage for children under one year are in the Zakkarpatya, Chernivtsi, Lviv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Rivne, Vinnytsia, Zaporizhya, and Volyn regions.

"As of August 1, 2020, the level of routine vaccination of children in the first year of life against poliomyelitis - three doses up to a year - is 45.6% of the annual plan; from diphtheria, pertussis, and tetanus - three doses up to a year - 47%; from measles, mumps, rubella - 45.3% are carried out annually; from viral hepatitis B - 42%; from tuberculosis - 48.1%; from hemophilic infection - 44.6%," the statement said.
