As of late December 2019, the number of unemployed people in Ukraine made 338.2 thousand. 177.3 thousand of these are women; 160.9 thousand are men. The press office of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported that on January 16.
Most of the officially registered unemployed people reside in towns and cities (roughly 176,000 people). Throughout the past three months, this number has been growing.
Over the first nine months of the year, the unemployment rate has been decreasing. In January 2019, it made some 364,300; in March, it made 340.7 thousand; in May, 300.9 thousand. In September 2019, the State Statistics Service of Ukraine registered 268.2 thousand unemployed people.
In March-November 2019, the number of people who applied for one vacancy made three. Over this period, the number of vacant jobs made up to a bit more than 108,000.
As of November 1, 2019, there were 259,300 unemployed people in Ukraine.
Besides, the 2019-unemployment rate in Ukraine was considered to be one of the highest in comparison with other European countries. This is stated in the Labor Market Overview, provided by the Ministry of Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.
